Based in Weston-super-Mare, the Ascot Group encompasses three distinct businesses; Purplex Marketing, Insight Data and Business Leader Magazine. Purplex is a full service marketing agency with a large digital marketing team, many of whom create client websites, manage online advertising and social media as well as email campaigns. The Insight Data part of the group provide prospective data lists, researched and maintained by phone calls and online data. Finally, Business Leader Magazine is a print and online publication for business leaders and entrepreneurs.
IP leased line
It’s easy to see why all three of these businesses need both fast reliable business broadband and telecoms. Pure Comms were selected to provide two services to the Ascot Group. Firstly an IP leased line for internet and also to support VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) calling, to link the companies new London satellite office. Internal calls between the Weston and London offices are conducted using VoIP. The leased line service provides a 20meg down and 20meg up connection for Ascot Group.
ISDN30 business phone services
Secondly, Pure Comms installed an ISDN (Intergraded Services for Digital Network) 30 service for traditional telecoms. This services the majority of the Ascot Groups incoming and outgoing calls.
The circuit is capable of 30 lines, hence the name ISDN 30. When the installation took place the Ascot Group had a total of 42 staff across the two locations, it was therefore decided an ISDN30 would be suitable. The ISDN30 line allows for a total of 30 phone lines to be in use at one time. Hence with 42 staff, some of which are out on the road 50% of the time, an ISDN30 covers the phone call load. No contention broadband – dedicated line
The Ascot Group benefit from no contention with other business when it comes to the leased line. They do not share the line with others which means they always get 20meg on the line. The leased line is a 20 on 100 bearer, giving the flexibility to increase up to 100meg, which can be easily turned on and off. This is particularly useful for the Ascot Group, who are growing rapidly but also support data for their clients websites and CRM. The flexibility of increasing the capacity of the line therefore enables the scope for them to migrate terabytes worth of data to the cloud by temporarily increasing the speed of the line, if required.
