The conversation around climate change and global warming has been happening for some time now, and rightly so. In recent years we’ve seen a rise in natural disasters occurring as a result of global warming.
Many in the UK will remember 2018 to be a record-breaking year for temperatures. In February we were blighted by a blizzard nicknamed “Beast from the East”. Then, in July, Europe was hit by a heatwave as UK hospitals adopted emergency measures to cope with illnesses caused by the hottest three-month period on record. More recently, America saw blazing wildfires in 2020, and 2021 has already brought 2 major heatwaves to the UK.
It is only right, then, that more businesses are now launching their own sustainability initiatives in a bid to help the Government’s target of Net Zero by 2050.
What are PureComms doing?
Here at PureComms we have joined the fight for Net Zero by launching a new Carbon Conscious campaign.
Our new initiative sees us plant a tree every time a customer signs a contract using The National Forest ‘Dedicate a Tree’ service. This will include when a new customer signs a contract and when an existing customer re-signs their contract.
We chose to carry out this campaign through The National Forest for a few reasons. Firstly, we wanted to know exactly where the trees were being planted and that they would be planted on UK soil. Secondly, their ‘Dedicate a Tree’ service allows users to (as the name would suggest) dedicate their tree to a specific person, company, or charity. This creates a far more personal experience and ensures our customers feel as though they are part of something bigger.
Our Carbon Conscious campaign is live now! Meaning that any customers who sign with us from now onwards will have a tree dedicated to their company growing in The National Forest.
What can you do to get involved?
For more information about The National Forest ‘Dedicate a Tree’ service, you can click here. But, if planting trees isn’t for you, there are still some other things you can do too!
Ecologi is an organisation developed to help businesses offset their daily carbon footprint in several different ways. When your business signs up, Ecologi calculates how much CO2 you could be saving and helps you to plant trees and fund climate projects to offset your usage. The organisation has some big-name brands on board too, like Lucy & Yak, SHEIN, and Parcel Monkey.
For bigger organisations, making the switch to electric vehicles forms a large part of their commitment to reduce their carbon footprint. EV100 is a global initiative backed by the likes of IKEA Group, Unilever, and HP Inc, that is committed to accelerating the switch to electric vehicles and making electric transport the new normal by 2030. If switching to electric is something that your business is considering, you should check to see if you are eligible for any government grants that are available for buyers.
Whatever you and your business choose to do, every little helps in the fight for Net Zero.
