Children’s Hospice South West
Children’s Hospice South West is our ‘charity of choice’ for this year. It has three sites, two of which are located close to our Tickenham and St Austell offices. Each year we arrange a number of events and fundraising initiatives to help raise money to support this amazing charity.
We have also supplied and maintain fish tanks in each site, helping to provide a relaxing resource to people who are visiting the hospices.
Last year the team participated in a series of activities and challenges to raise a grand total of £6,585 for the charity, which provides hospice care for life-limited children and their families from across the South West of England. These activities included our CEO embarking on a three-day trek to reach the 4101m high peak of Mt Kinabalu in Borneo! This year will see him walking coast-to-coast across Costa Rica, again to raise much needed funds for CHSW.
North Somerset Enterprise Agency/The Hive
When PureComms CEO (Rob Vivian) started the business, he had a wealth of knowledge and experience within the Telecoms and procurement consultancy sector, but limited knowledge of all the individual facets he needed to consider when starting and running a business.
Recognising that he needed to find out more, Rob approached North Somerset Enterprise Agency (NSEA), a dedicated business support service based at The Hive (managed workspace), Weston-super-Mare. NSEA provided a comprehensive range of support services over a sustained period including: business advice and support, low cost training courses, dedicated high-growth mentoring, networking opportunities, signposting to other support services and help with business planning and growth plans. Rob comments:
“When I started PureComms I met with one of the business advisors at NSEA, who looked though the business plan and gave me lots of useful advice. The agency also runs a number of courses which are very helpful from a business perspective and are affordable. For example, I attended a book keeping course which was extremely useful. NSEA also runs a business club that shares relevant and up to date business information amongst its members. Chief Executive (Angela Hicks) has introduced us to a number of useful contacts in the local area and has been vocal in her support of us.”
North Somerset Economic Development Service
The Economic Development (ED) Service at North Somerset Council provides a range of business support and signposting services for local businesses in the area.
They helped to signpost us to relevant business advice, support and guidance when we started the business in North Somerset in 2009. Since then they have continued to send us details of new business support programmes, new developments and/or details of available grants and funding. They have also featured us as a case study on the ED Teams website which acts as a portal for business information: http://innorthsomerset.co.uk/case-studies/pure-comms-clevedon

The HR Department
Having great HR in the workplace is essential to help a business grow, which is why PureComms engaged with The HR Dept as soon as it took on its first employee.
The HR Dept provides outsourced HR support for SME’s (who have 1 employee up to 300), with issues from recruitment to redundancies and everything in between, all at a fraction of the cost of a large in house HR Department. The team of HR Specialists provide practical, pragmatic and cost effective HR solutions and employment law services to fit all businesses.
“The HR Dept has supported PureComms with all areas of HR and is an integral part of the invaluable business support we receive as a business.” Rob Vivian (CEO), PureComms
